A Simple Answer

I was recently asked, “Isn’t there anything that Obama does that you can agree with?”

The simple answer is: NO.

I demand, or should I say expect very little from the men and women who serve in political office in this country. I understand the temptations that they have to contend with. When they fail morally (usually sexual misconduct or misappropriation of public funds) it’s not a big shock. I don’t like it and I would never vote for them again, but if asked, “Is there anything that politician did that I agreed with?” The answer could be: YES.

What’s the difference?

To fail morally is part of the human condition. It is understood and practiced by all of us to some degree or the other. However, evil is a different matter and this is the category that I put Obama in. His record, as well as the record of the Party he represents was well known to all before he was elected. Putting it simply - he is in favor of abortion on demand. He encourages it, and now as President he is forcing me to support this immoral act by the use of my tax dollars. One of his first acts as President was to fund abortion world wide.

So with the number approaching 50 million babies murdered in this country since 1973. The party of infanticide has a new leader. I want nothing to do with him or them.

Pretty simple. Huh?

Campylobacter are a family of bacteria. They are one of the commonest causes of diarrhea in animals and man. Campylobacter can be found in a variety of sources including chicken and other birds, cattle, and pond water. Undercooked or raw chicken has become a prime source.

Campylobacter infection in humans is characterized by severe abdominal cramping, fever and diarrhea. Vomiting rarely occurs. These symptoms are produced by the body in an effort to ‘flush out the system’. The illness is usually over within 10 days. The main sources to be aware of are - raw meats and poultry and infected pets. Around 50% of dogs and cats excrete the Campylobacter bacteria in their feces, most of them without showing any symptoms of disease. As a result their coats become contaminated allowing the bacteria to be passed on to humans, especially children who stroke the animals.
Pay particular attention to personal hygiene - hands should be thoroughly washed (using hot water, soap and a nail brush) after using the toilet or handling the pet and immediately prior to handling, preparation or serving of food. Children should be supervised in their hand washing after using the toilet or handling pets and before eating food.
Treatment in any animal or human affected with acute diarrhea is to keep hydrated by using electrolyte solutions or water by mouth. It is virtually impossible to overdose on this treatment as all that will happen is an increased urination. A slight increase in the volume of urination is therefore an indication of adequate hydration.
Diarrhea is a serious matter and needs to be treated especially in the young.

Eighteen and pregnant, Sycloria Williams went to an abortion clinic outside Miami and paid $1,200 for Dr. Pierre Jean-Jacque Renelique to terminate her 23-week pregnancy.

Three days later, she sat in a reclining chair, medicated to dilate her cervix and otherwise get her ready for the procedure.

Only Renelique didn't arrive in time. According to Williams and the FL Department of Health, she went into labor and delivered a live baby girl.

What Williams and the Health Department say happened next has shocked people on both sides of the abortion debate: One of the clinic's owners, who has no medical license, cut the infant's umbilical cord. Williams says the woman placed the baby in a plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.

Police recovered the decomposing remains in a cardboard box a week later after getting anonymous tips.

"I don't care what your politics are, what your morals are, this should not be happening in our community," said Tom Pennekamp, a Miami attorney representing Williams in her lawsuit against Renelique (ren-uh-LEEK') and the clinic owners.

The state Board of Medicine is to hear Renelique's case in Tampa on Friday and determine whether to strip his license. The state attorney's homicide division is investigating, though no charges have been filed. Terry Chavez, a spokeswoman with the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office, said this week that prosecutors were nearing a decision.

Renelique's attorney, Joseph Harrison, called the allegations at best "misguided and incomplete" in an e-mail to The Associated Press. He didn't provide details.

The case has riled the anti-abortion community, which contends the clinic's actions constitute murder.

"The baby was just treated as a piece of garbage," said Tom Brejcha, president of The Thomas More Society, a law firm that is also representing Williams. "People all over the country are just aghast."

Even those who support abortion rights are concerned about the allegations.

"It really disturbed me," said Joanne Sterner, president of the Broward County chapter of the National Organization for Women, after reviewing the administrative complaint against Renelique. "I know that there are clinics out there like this. And I hope that we can keep (women) from going to these types of clinics."

According to state records, Renelique received his medical training at the State University of Haiti. In 1991, he completed a four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Interfaith Medical Center in New York.

New York records show that Renelique has made at least five medical malpractice payments in the past decade, the circumstances of which were not detailed in the filings.

Several attempts to reach Renelique were unsuccessful. Some of his office numbers were disconnected, no home number could be found and he did not return messages left with his attorney.

Williams struggled with the decision to have an abortion, Pennekamp said. She declined an interview request made through him.

She concluded she didn't have the resources or maturity to raise a child, he said, and went to the Miramar Women's Center on July 17, 2006. Sonograms indicated she was 23 weeks pregnant, according to the Department of Health. She met Renelique at a second clinic two days later.

Renelique gave Williams laminaria, a drug that dilates the cervix, and prescribed three other medications, according to the administrative complaint filed by the Health Department. She was told to go to yet another clinic, A Gyn Diagnostic Center in Hialeah, where the procedure would be performed the next day, on July 20, 2006.

Williams arrived in the morning and was given more medication.

The Department of Health account continues as follows: Just before noon she began to feel ill. The clinic contacted Renelique. Two hours later, he still hadn't shown up. Williams went into labor and delivered the baby.

"She came face to face with a human being," Pennekamp said. "And that changed everything."

The complaint says one of the clinic owners, Belkis Gonzalez came in and cut the umbilical cord with scissors, then placed the baby in a plastic bag, and the bag in a trash can.

Williams' lawsuit offers a cruder account: She says Gonzalez knocked the baby off the recliner chair where she had given birth, onto the floor. The baby's umbilical cord was not clamped, allowing her to bleed out. Gonzalez scooped the baby, placenta and afterbirth into a red plastic biohazard bag and threw it out.

No working telephone number could be found for Gonzalez, and an attorney who has represented the clinic in the past did not return a message.

At 23 weeks, an otherwise healthy fetus would have a slim but legitimate chance of survival. Quadruplets born at 23 weeks last year at The Nebraska Medical Center survived.

An autopsy determined Williams' baby - she named her Shanice - had filled her lungs with air, meaning she had been born alive, according to the Department of Health. The cause of death was listed as extreme prematurity.

The Department of Health believes Renelique committed malpractice by failing to ensure that licensed personnel would be present when Williams was there, among other missteps.

The department wants the Board of Medicine, a separate agency, to permanently revoke Renelique's license, among other penalties. His license is currently restricted, permitting him to only perform abortions when another licensed physician is present and can review his medical records.

Should prosecutors file murder charges, they'd have to prove the baby was born alive, said Robert Batey, a professor of criminal law at Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport. The defense might contend that the child would have died anyway, but most courts would not allow that argument, he said.

"Hastening the death of an individual who is terminally ill is still considered causing the death of that individual," Batey said. "And I think a court would rule similarly in this type of case."

(WASHINGTON, DC) – All U.S. taxpayers would enjoy the same immunity from IRS penalties and interest as House Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel (D-NY) and Obama Administration Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, if a bill introduced today by Congressman John Carter (R-TX) becomes law.

Carter, a former longtime Texas judge, today introduced the Rangel Rule Act of 2009, HR 735, which would prohibit the Internal Revenue Service from charging penalties and interest on back taxes against U.S. citizens. Under the proposed law, any taxpayer who wrote “Rangel Rule” on their return when paying back taxes would be immune from penalties and interest.

“We must show the American people that Congress is following the same law, and the same legal process as we expect them to follow,” says Carter. “That has not been done in the ongoing case against Chairman Rangel, nor in the instance of our new Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. If we don’t hold our highest elected officials to the same standards as regular working folks, we owe it to our constituents to change those standards so everyone is abiding by the same law. Americans believe in blind justice, which shows no favoritism to the wealthy or powerful.”

Carter also said the tax law change will provide good economic stimulus benefits, as it would free many taxpayers from massive debts to the IRS, restoring those funds to the free market to help create jobs.

Former Maryland Governor and sometime radio talk show host Michael Steele is the next chairman of the Republican Party.

My first impression of Steele was made when he has been the guest host for Bill Bennett's Morning in America talk show.

May I say, "I was not impressed."

He does say all the right things, he just doesn't say them very well. Hopefully it's just his lack of talent on the radio that as caused my misgivings.

I do pray that he will be the man the Republican Party needs to get back on track. Time will tell.

Noah had been instructed to build the ark, for soon the global weather pattern would change and catastrophic consequences would befall the people. The people had been warned to change their ways, but to no avail. The rains would begin soon.

Chicago's Shell Game

Once again the experts are shocked. The arrest of Illinois Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich is the latest cause for their bewilderment.

Such notable experts include Illinois Senator Dick Durbin, Mayor Richard Daley, the editorial staff of both the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times, Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., and of coarse the new president. All of which have expressed shock and surprise as the fifth Illinois governor is charged with corruption.

Give me a flippin break!

Anyone that has lived in Illinois for any length of time is aware of the corruption that is endemic to the state. To be shocked and surprised as another Illinois politician is hauled away to jail is absurd.

The shock and surprise expressed by these experts can be likened to that of a child caught with his hand in the proverbial “cookie jar”. They are in no way concerned that the cookies are missing or that they have a hand full; they are just concerned that they got caught. This was not supposed to happen, especially not now - wait until after January 20th.

We have all seen as Democrats close ranks to protect one of their own. Not so in this case; poor old Blago will be thrown under the bus so fast you would think that maybe . . . the presidency depended on it.

Say it isn’t so.

Our new president would no way be involved in the corruption that is the foundation of Illinois politics. So what if he was one of the strongest supporters of Rod Blagojevich in his run for the governorship, “He was just a governor you happened to live in the neighborhood”. And let’s not look to close at his political mentor “Emil Jones”.

I could go on and on with this . . .

But for now just be aware that some of the names that will make headline news over the next few days will be new to the national scene, but you can bet they are all well known to Illinois residents. And as this story unfolds you are going to witness the Chicago Machine at its best. The shell game that will be played in order to protect the Machine’s New President will be a sight to behold.

The People's Car - Count Me Out

Auto Makers, Banks, Governors, Mayors . . . the list of American’s that are willing to sell out their hard won liberties are growing. Frankly, I find it disgusting to watch the supposed best and brightest of our citizenry schlep to Washington with their handout. Is there no dignity?

To see the CEO of General Motors groveling before the likes of Chris Dodd and Barney Frank is un-American. Not often, if ever have I agreed with Senator Dodd, but when he called for General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner to step down, I agree. It’s humiliating to watch the Chairman of this great American Corporation beg and plead for money.

Car Czar? You got to be kidding.

I have always purchased American made automobiles - even when I knew that Japan was producing a better product - even when I became aware that UAW members were being paid more than they were worth and that I would never have access to the benefits they took for granted. I still bought - Made in America.

No More.

Never again will I purchase a vehicle from GM/Ford/Chrysler. After watching the dog and pony show that is going on in Washington right now, why would I?

A cabinet level management team; a car czar; make sure its green; and don’t you dare touch those pensions. These are just some of the strings that the politicians will have attached to the money that will be made available to the big three. So when the next generation of the “people’s car” rolls off the assembly line – count me out.

What the Puck!! Chivalry

I know this is swimming against the current, and I’m aware that I open myself to ridicule. But, chivalry demands that I comment on a situation that has made national news over the past week.

Chivalry – there’s a word you don’t see to often these days.

The story I’m referring to is the one about the hockey player for the NHL’s Dallas Stars - Sean Avery - a key player for the hockey team. He was speaking to reporters in Calgary, Alberta when he made a comment in which referred to his ex-girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert as sloppy seconds. The NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has suspended Avery for the remark calling it “inappropriate”.

Over the past few days Mr. Bettman has been criticized for censoring free speech, accused of moralizing, and a host of other things not fit for print. Mr. Bettman who has been charged with the responsibility of changing the image of the NHL - so as to make it more palatable to the American public - has succeeded in part. While revenues have increased five fold, the NHL still retains its bad boy image. Avery has done his part to further that image. While suspending Avery was probably done primarily as a business decision I think it says more; more about Gary Bettman and more about America as a whole.

Apart for Elisha Cuthbert’s role as Kim Bauer in the TV show 24, I know nothing of the people involved in this story. I understand the risk of defending the honor of someone I know nothing about that is why I choose to defend the principle not the person. If the person is, or is not worthy of honor it is of no account, the principle still stands.

Chivalry is not dead.

While the idea of chivalry may seem archaic to some, and unknown to others, I believe it still remains a core value in the American male. For sure you can’t find a whole lot of evidence of it in Pop Culture, as this incident with Sean Avery demonstrates.

Despite this enlightened culture, where the roles of men and women have been blurred and confused. Where women with the character of Madonna and Paris Hilton are held in high esteem and the behavior of men like Sean Avery are defended, chivalry is still alive and well.

The defense of a woman’s honor deserved or not, has not been totally lost to the ages. Mr. Bettman knows this, the remarks made by Sean Avery were inappropriate. Whether or not Mr. Bettman can convince the NHL’s fan base of this however, remains to be seen. Reportedly Sean Avery has expressed some regret over the remark.

It’s important for our society to maintain a reverence and a sense of honor for women. I know it can be difficult at times, especially if the woman is close to you: Your wife, your girlfriend, your mother, your daughter. Yes it can be difficult, but not impossible.

In the musical Camelot, King Arthur imparts this wisdom:

With Sen. John Kerry claiming for himself the mantle of leader of the progressive movement, you can be sure that the sycophants that make up the national media will do their part to help Senator Kerry once and for all shed the horrifying cloak of liberalism.

You can also be sure that our new president and vice president will no longer have one of the most liberal voting records in the U.S. Senate – they will now have one of the most progressive.

As we watch. . .

Corporate Executives, Banks, Governors, Mayors and untold millions are waiting with bated breath as the progressives in Congress debate the next round of government handouts. Certainly no one can say that using tax payer’s money to shore up union pension plans, or that creating 2.5 million make work jobs is a liberal idea. And, don’t forget we can all use another stimulus check. How progressive can you get?

So dear reader don’t be left behind, be apart of the inner circle. Close your eyes, click your heels three times and repeat after me, “I do believe in Government Handouts, I do believe in Government Handouts, I do, I do, I do . . .

A New Toy

I do not share the joy and optimism that has been expressed by some over the new national security team that is due to take over in January.

Robert Gates is stay on as Defense Secretary, General James Jones, former Marine Corps commandant will be the new National Security Advisor, Janet Napolitano will head Homeland Security, and Hillary Clinton will be Secretary of State.

Secretary Gates will be a hold over from the Bush Administration and has done a reasonably good job over the past couple of years. General Jones is a Marine, always will be, and he will take the war to a new level in Afghanistan. Hillary Clinton has supported the war in Iraq, and she understands the threat that radical Islam poses to the United States.

Sounds like a pretty good national security team, and I agree it is. It wouldn’t have surprised me if John McCain would have made the same selections.

My confidence wanes however when I consider the appointment of Arizona’s Governor, Janet Napolitano. This appointment says more about our new president than it says about national security. Napolitano’s administrative capabilities and experience at dealing with natural disasters are the reported qualifiers for her being selected for the job of Homeland Security Chief. Never mind that she will leave Arizona with the nation’s worst budget deficit, and her inept handling of the somewhat minor natural disasters in Arizona.

Consider this: Our new president is inexperienced and has little interest, if any in what happens outside the borders of this country. He is at heart, a community organizer, he has his sights set on one thing and one thing only; “Nation Building” or should I say “Remodeling”. By appointing Gates, Jones and Clinton, I believe he hopes – foreign policy issues will be in good hands while he pursues his true ambition, remolding the national identity of the United State of America. He has already expressed his belief that this will take some time, at least two terms. Janet Napolitano will be a perfect fit in this endeavor, as a border governor, she will be perceived as having credibility in dealing with illegal immigrants and I have no doubt that she will openly lobby for amnesty for the illegal’s already here in this country. With the growth of the Hispanic population in this country what better way to secure a loyal voting block for 2012.

The nations current economic turmoil will be the catalyst for the change we have all been promised. Over the next few years our Remodeler in Chief will attempt to use the skills developed on Chicago’s South Side to unravel 230 years of this noble experiment called America.

Now if only the crazies in the Middle East will let him play with his new toy.

Clock Works

The night sky has put on a great show the last couple of days; even if you live in a large city you will be able to see a spectacular sight. Jupiter and Venus will slowly move toward each other, visible in the southwestern sky the two planets will be joined by the crescent moon on the evening of Dec 1.

As this holiday week draws to a close, our families have left for home, the mess they left behind is a reminder of the love shared. So are the extra pounds. Before we tackle the mess and begin the self recrimination over our eating habits. It needs to be remembered that Thanksgiving is truly an American tradition, born of a time when this nation was on the verge of being lost to history. . .

October 3, 1863

The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequalled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle, or the ship; the axe had enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years, with large increase of freedom.

No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.

It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and voice by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.

Monkeying Around With The Economy

As with most Americans I too am very concerned about this current “Economic Crises.”

Because I am concerned, I watch and listen very carefully as the experts explain to me why the death of capitalism is a good thing. I ponder the incredible numbers that are being bandied about and the theories and the explanations for how and why we have come to this place. In my musings I’m reminded of the theory that says, “Give a monkey a typewriter and enough time, he will eventually produce a work of great literature” say . . . “Twilight” for example.

I was wondering if the same theory could be applied to the commentators and pundits that infest the airwaves of broadcast and cable news programs. The theory goes something like this, “Give a talking head enough words and enough air time and he will eventually prove another theory” . . . if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with BS.

I will refrain from naming any particular individuals, but a typical broadcast goes something like this:

COMMENTATOR: “We have with us today the foremost expert on the Worst Economic Crises since the Great Depression.” “Mr. Economic Expert, can you tell our listening audience exactly why the Long Term Yield of Treasury Bonds has caused the Bull Market to become Bearish over the Leverage Bailout of Interest Rates in relation to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac?”

EXPERT: “Thanks for having me here.”

“The answer to this current Economic Crises is simple, if you listen carefully to Chairman Bernanke you would see that the Short Term drop of the Medium Term Yield of the Capitol Market has caused the NASDAQ as well as the FED to pull back on the Equities that caused the Hyper Inflation of the Derivatives that Secretary Paulson warned us about when the Budget Cuts where first initiated right after the Hedge Funds led to the Bond Market Rally, which caused the Foreign Exchange imbalance which was the main reason that the Housing Bubble burst.”

COMMENTATOR: “That makes sense, let me thank you for being with us today.”

COMMENTATOR: “Further in Economic News the Leading Economic Figures that were released today are much higher than Experts Predicted.”

The talking heads smile at one another, the camera pulls back and an advertisement for the latest weight loss program begins; adding further credibility to these “Economic Experts.”

Pressing the power button on the remote the screen goes blank; another thought passes through my mind… “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.”

Red Marbles

This story has probably been around for awhile and has probably made the rounds, but it is new to me and I would like to share it.

I'm not sure if kids still play marbles, I know I did; playing marbles in the dust at recess is still a vivid memory.

RED MARBLES

I was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily appraising a basket of freshly picked green peas.

I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me.

“Hello Barry, how are you today?”

“H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jes' admirin' them peas. They sure look good.”

'”They are good, Barry. How's your Ma?”

“Fine. Gittin' stronger alla' time.”

“Good. Anything I can help you with?”

“No, Sir. Jes' admirin' them peas.”

“Would you like to take some home?” asked Mr. Miller.

“No, Sir. Got nuthin to pay for 'em with.”

“Well, what have you to trade me for some of those peas?”

“l got's my prize marble here.”

“Is that right? Let me see it,'' said Miller.
“Here tis. She's a dandy.”

“I can see that. Hmmmmm, only thing is this one is blue and I sort of go for red. Do you have a red one like this at home?” the store owner asked.

“Not zackley but almost”

“Tell you what. Take this sack of peas home with you and next trip this way let me look at that red marble”, Mr. Miller told the boy.

“Sure will. Thanks Mr. Miller.”

Mrs. Miller, who had been standing nearby, came over to help me. With a smile she said, “There are two other boys like him in our community, all three are in very poor circumstances. Jim just loves to bargain with them for peas, apples, tomatoes, or whatever. When they come back with their red marbles, and they always do, he decides he doesn't like red after all and he sends them home with a bag of produce for a green marble or an orange one, when they come on their next trip to the store.”

I left the store smiling to myself, impressed with this man. A short time later I moved to Colorado, but I never forgot the story of this man, the boys, and their bartering for marbles.

Several years went by, each more rapid than the previous one. Just recently I had an occasion to visit some old friends in that Idaho community and while I was there I learned that Mr. Miller had died.

They were having his visitation that evening and I knew my friends wanted to go so I agreed to accompany them. Upon arrival at the mortuary, we fell into line to meet the relatives of the deceased and to offer whatever words of comfort we could.

Ahead of us in line were three young men. One was in an army uniform and the other two wore nice haircuts, dark suits and white shirts...all very professional looking. They approached Mrs. Miller, standing composed and smiling by her husband's casket. Each of the young men hugged her, kissed her on the cheek, spoke briefly with her and moved on to the casket.

Her misty light blue eyes followed them as, one by one, each young man stopped briefly and placed his own warm hand over the cold pale hand in the casket. Each left the mortuary awkwardly, wiping his eyes.

Our turn came to meet Mrs. Miller. I told her who I was and reminded her of the story from those many years ago and what she had told me about her husband's bartering for marbles. With her eyes glistening, she took my hand and led me to the casket.

“Those three young men who just left were the boys I told you about. They just told me how they appreciated the things Jim 'traded' them. Now, at last, when Jim could not change his mind about color or size.... they came to pay their debt.”

“We've never had a great deal of the wealth of this world,” she confided, “but right now, Jim would consider himself the richest man in Idaho.”

With loving gentleness she lifted the lifeless fingers of her deceased husband. Resting underneath were three exquisitely shiny red marbles.

The Moral: We will not be remembered by our words, but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath.

Today I wish you a day of ordinary miracles,

A fresh pot of coffee you didn't make yourself…An unexpected phone call from an old friend...Green stoplights on your way to work...The fastest line at the grocery store...A good sing-along song on the radio...Your keys found right where you left them.

Thanksgiving - NOT

Claremont California

For decades, Claremont kindergartners have celebrated Thanksgiving by dressing up as pilgrims and Native Americans and sharing a feast. But on Tuesday, when the youngsters meet for their turkey and songs, they won't be wearing their hand-made bonnets, headdresses and fringed vests.

Why?

Michelle Raheja, a mother of a student at Condit Elementary School complained to her daughter’s teacher. “It's demeaning," she complained, "I'm sure you can appreciate the inappropriateness of asking children to dress up like slaves (and kind slave masters), or Jews (and friendly Nazis), or members of any other racial minority group who has struggled in our nation's history."

"There is nothing to be served by dressing up as a racist stereotype," she said.

Last week, rumors began to circulate that the district was planning to cancel the event, and infuriated parents argued over the matter at a heated school board meeting Thursday. District Supt. David Cash announced at the end of the meeting that the school had tentatively decided to hold the event without the costumes, and sent a memo to parents Friday confirming the decision.

Disney's Bolt

It is not often that I take the time to review a movie.

I suspect that it’s because most movies are not worth the time it takes to do so.

Not so with Disney’s new movie, BOLT. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, however I will admit to some bias. I do love animals and the main character in the movie, BOLT is a white dog that reminded of my dog Kitt, who died a little over a year ago. If you have ever had a dog that you loved, this movie captures the best of what a dog is all about; loyalty and a willingness to sacrifice it self for its’ “Person”.

Although the movie has a PG rating it is appropriate for all ages. It will make you laugh and for some like me, it will make you cry. If you don’t have children to take to this movie, make sure that you go at a time when children will be there; a Saturday or Sunday matinée. Part of the fun of this movie is listening to the little ones around you.

This movie will be a Disney Classic.

When I see a movie like this, it makes me wonder what Walt Disney himself, would think about it.

I think he would be proud this one.

It’s good to see that Disney still provides a safe port for families that are caught in the storm of morale decay that our society now finds it self.

It was Thanksgiving, and for the first time our whole family was together. Mom and Dad had to drive all night just to get here, but boy was it worth it! The Grandsters really know how to do it up right. The Grandsters being Grandpa and Grandma. We were all seated at the table, and I couldn't wait to dive into those mashed potatoes and gravy. And the smell of the turkey -- I thought I was going to faint with happiness.

"What's that, Mindy?" demanded my little cousin Sam. He can be such a pain. He is 8 years old, two years younger than I am.

"What's what?" I asked.

He pointed to a little paper cup containing just three kernels of corn beside Grandpa's plate. I opened my mouth to answer and then realized I didn't know. Ugh! How I hate admitting that I don't know something!

Grandma answered, "It is to pay tribute to the Pilgrims."

"But why three kernels?" asked the always curious Sam. Give it a rest, I thought.

Grandpa answered, "It reminds me of what a tough time the Pilgrims had. In the beginning, three kernels of corn was each person's daily food ration." The table got real quiet after he said that.

Grandpa continued, "Against all odds, they made a life for themselves in the wilderness. Let's talk more about it after dinner."

Sure enough, dinner was over and Sam wanted to know more.

" Squanto taught the Pilgrims to grow corn!" Sam exclaimed. He's never going to forget that -- he played Squanto in the Thanksgiving Day play at school.

"That's right," Grandpa said. "But at first the Pilgrims were terrified of the Indians, as they called them. Then one day a tribesman named Samoset ventured into their encampment. He was tall and dark and by many accounts quite handsome. Loudly and plainly he proclaimed, 'Welcome!' in perfect English."

"The Pilgrims must have freaked!" shouted Sam.

Grandpa laughed and agreed. "I'm sure you're right. He had learned the language from English fishermen. For the Pilgrims, life was a constant battle for survival. Later, Governor William Bradford made a decision. Instead of the colonists sharing their crops equally, he assigned a parcel of land to each family and told them they could keep whatever they produced for themselves."

"Then what happened?" asked Sam.

"At last the Pilgrims began to prosper. Governor William Bradford wrote in his book 'Of Plimoth

"Shoot! If you can keep everything you make, of course you're going to work harder. Everybody knows that."

Grandpa answered, "The first seed had been planted for the American Revolution. People were free to practice their religions as they saw fit and were free to keep the fruits of their labor. This had never happened before in the history of mankind. In the words of William Bradford, 'As one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone unto many, yea in some sort to our whole nation.' "

"That William Bradford sounds like a pretty cool guy," said Sam.

"He was a pretty cool guy," Grandpa said with a chuckle. Plantation,' 'This had very good success, for it made all hands industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been.' "

Dedication Ceremony November 19, 1863

Today, November 19^th is the 145^th Anniversary of one of the most memorable dates in American History. In 1863, President Lincoln along with other dignitaries met to dedicate the new “Soldier’s National Cemetery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania”. The President spoke for just two and half minutes to a group of about 15,000 people. This short speech has come to be known as the “Gettysburg Address”. It is one of the most remarkable documents in our nation’s history.

I was required to memorize the speech in Jr. High. I’m not sure if students today are still required to do so; if not, they should be. This speech offers such a opportunity to connect young people with our past and to give them a means to reflect on the sacrifice made by those American’s to prove “all men are created equal”.

Died Of A Theory

Every now and then the truth boils to the surface, and so it is with this current economic crisis.

Have you ever seen a pool of boiling mud, or made a pot of Cream of Wheat? As both begin to reach the boiling point large bubbles will form on the surface. As the temperature has not yet reached the boiling point the bubble will recede, only to form again a short time later. Eventually the boiling point will be reached and the bubbles will burst.

It has been a long time in coming but the U.S. economy is approaching the boiling point. Bailouts and quick fixes might buy a little more time, but the fundamental problem still exists.

The U.S. population is aging:

We live longer and require more and more of the nation’s resources in order to maintain an ever increasing quality of lifestyle. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid just to mention a few of the plethora of government benefits, grants and financial aid programs that are being dolled out by the hundreds of billions of dollars each year to maintain this elderly population. The same too, is happening in the private sector. Retirement and aid benefits are being paid to employees that are no longer a part of the work force, sometimes to the tune of 150% of their original salary. This is the true problem.

Currently the Congress is debating a bailout for the U.S. auto industry. The money is not needed to purchase new and more efficient factories, no, they need the money to pay benefits. It’s not just the auto industry, call your local government find out what the retirement benefits are for that retired police officer, fireman, railroad employee or politician.

I don’t mean to disparage any of these people. I’m sure they all worked hard and made sacrifices to achieve their lifestyle. Sad to say however, it’s not sustainable. We know in hearts this is true. And, as that random bubble comes to the surface, we hope that this time it doesn’t pop.

It’s reasonable that we have arrived at this juncture; we are a compassionate and hard working people. Life, liberty and the desire to provide a better world for those that follow us is the foundation on which this country was built. The sweat and blood of our ancestors has purchased this great land.

With that said, I find it inconceivable that our forefathers would have considered it beneficial for their nation’s work force to stop working, by virtue of attaining a specific age. With age comes responsibility, knowledge, and hopefully wisdom. However, just when our nation’s citizens should be able to contribute the most, they are relieved of that responsibility. We have set before them a time when they will no longer be needed. Human nature being what it is, most gratefully accept that role. Lulled into complacency, born of a misguided idea that by virtue of our age we are entitled; we push to the front of the line and demand our “Senior Citizen Discount”.

I’m reminded of a story from the Civil War: As the Confederacy was on the verge of defeat; Jefferson Davis faced with this overwhelming crisis was considering the use of slaves in the Confederate Army. When one of the largest slave owners and member of the Confederate Congress refused to allow his slaves to serve, Jefferson Davis said, “If the Confederacy falls, there should be written on its tombstone: Died of a theory."

History is ready to do what it does best . . . repeat itself.

“If America’s experiment as a social utopia falls, there should be written on its tombstone: DIED OF A THEORY.”

The opponents of Prop 8 blame the religious right for their defeat. The religious right, a coalition that included Evangelical Christians, Mormons and Catholics, banned together and stood for what they believe to be reasonable and traditional.

Marine Corps Birthday

During the American Revolution, many important political discussions took place in the inns and taverns of Philadelphia, including the founding of the Marine Corps.

A committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and on shore.

The resolution was approved on November 10, 1775, officially forming the Continental Marines.

As the first order of business, Samuel Nicholas became Commandant of the newly formed Marines. Tun Tavern’s owner and popular patriot, Robert Mullan, became his first captain and recruiter. They began gathering support and were ready for action by early 1776.

Each year, the Marine Corps marks November 10th with a celebration of the brave spirit which compelled these men and thousands since to defend our country as United States Marines.

We ask, “How are we to submit ourselves to a God given authority, while at the same time knowing that this authority is an anathema?” We could take the easy out and use the ever popular, “That is above my pay grade,” and thus ignore the issue altogether. However, let’s see if there is a way to reconcile the word of God, with the outcome of this recent election, with our morale obligation as believers and with our political conviction as conservatives.

To begin, I assert, “That the Constitution of the United Sates of America is an inspired work of God,” and “I believe that for a season, God as granted the authority to govern this country to the Democrat Party.” Therefore, as a believer I must submit myself to this authority. I will honor those given this authority; I will be a worthy citizen of this great nation. I will abide by the laws of this authority, the only exception being; if said law is in direct conflict with that which has been required of me by God Himself. The Prophet Daniel sets before us an example of how we are to conduct ourselves when confronted with a law in direct contradiction with that of God. King Darius (the governing authority) had ordered that no one should be allowed to pray except to the King Himself. Daniel (knowing that this directly violated the command of God) refused to obey such an order. He didn’t call the King names, lead a protest or seek to overthrow the Kings authority. He followed the law and humbly submitted himself to the authority of the King and according the King’s law was cast into the lion’s den. Daniel’s obedience and noble character did not go unnoticed; God delivered him from the lions and a short time later Daniel was promoted to authority in the government. So too, will God honor those who refuse to obey a governmental authority which directly contradicts the law of God. This does not however, grant us the right to exhibit ignoble character. The cruel, mean spirited and in some cases evil tactics of the opposition can not be a part of what we represent. We will meet and defeat our opponent in the arena of truth. With humility we can stand for the principles that we know are true and worthy of an honorable citizen.

The next few years present a great challenge. The polls suggest that we have to appeal to those who call themselves moderates. This will be a difficult task, for, “How should we moderate truth?” The answer is - WE DON’T. We must first put our own house in order: people like Mark Foley and Ted Stevens have no place in a conservative Republican Party. We must demand that the character of the leaders of this party be beyond reproach. Hearts and minds can be changed; a moderate can be transformed if the truth is presented amiably and with humility. Leave the coarseness and the ill humor to the other side. Move forward with the knowledge that, “We hold these truths to be self-evident . . . words inspired by God, honored by God for those that will be allowed authority to govern this greatest nation in history, the United States of America.

Retooling the Republican Party

For three days now I have been reading and listening to the pundits give their assessment of the election, while offering their advice for a winning strategy for 2012.

With a few exceptions, most agree the Republican Party needs to retool. Opinions have been expressed the following way:

1. There are those that believe that it was just fate, a matter of bad luck; no one could have predicted that the economy would have taken a nose dive four weeks before the election.

2. Others believe that God is in heaven and no man comes to power unless He wills it; trust that the election went just as it was meant to.

3. Republicans need to be more conservative.

4. Republicans need to moderate their conservative values in order to appeal to moderates, we need a bigger tent.

5. Republicans need to appeal more to moderates while maintaining their conservative values.

Over the next few days I will look at each of these points individually.

For now let’s look at point

1. Fate implies an inevitable outcome. Was the outcome of this election inevitable? The democrats spent over $650 million dollars on this election. Is that the price of fate? That the economy tanked just when the election was beginning to go in the Republicans favor, was that bad luck? I suppose we could call it that, but you would have to ignore the fact that the economic crises was mostly caused by the Democrat Party and we would have to ignore the fact that you can’t find nary an article in the main stream media pointing this out. With unlimited resources and the suspension of any journalistic integrity; the sentiment, “we make our own luck” can be said to be TRUE. Would the election have turned out any different if both candidates would have kept their promise and only used public funds? What if the media would have been fair and balanced in their reporting? I think the answer is obvious.

Fate be damned, the Democrats lied and outspent the Republicans, and along with their willing accomplices in the media they managed to elect the most left wing government in American History.

Conservative Litmus Test

Conservatives and maybe even some Republicans are trying to figure out what went wrong with this election. Count me among the conservatives.

Before I support another individual posing as conservative, I will require the dreaded “LITMUS TEST”.

I will never again vote for the lesser of two evils. I don’t mean to say that John McCain was evil, but he was not a conservative. Those of us that call our selves conservative knew this, yet we turned out and voted for McCain. Don’t get me wrong, I wish John McCain would have won; the damage that will be done to this country by the left will be extensive and long lasting. With John McCain in the White House we at least had a chance to direct policy. It was not meant to be, however.

Enough said for what could have been.

The CONSERVATIVE LITMUS TEST

Must be rooted and grounded in faith in God

Must be Pro-Life

Must believe that the 2^nd Amendment means exactly what it says

Must believe in Individual Responsibility

Must believe in Limited Government

Must believe in a Strong Military

Must believe that Capitalism is only way to maintain individual liberty

Lip service or equivocating on any point of this LITMUS TEST will forfeit the individual or group the right to be called conservative.

Sarah Palin has been the one bright light for conservatives in this election. She brought new life to a movement that had been lulled into a state of apathy. Her future roll in this movement is still unknown, but I for one would welcome her back.

However

The ugliness that has been directed toward Sarah and her family would be reason enough for most of us to throw in the towel. If this is Sarah’s decision, that too, is okay. She has put conservatives back on the path, she has shown the way. For that I am grateful.

The Juggernaut and The New Neocon

No matter who wins the election tomorrow the battle for the soul of conservatism will begin in earnest. Sarah Palin has pretty much guaranteed that the battle needs to be fought.

The visceral hatred directed at Sarah Palin demands an accounting. Not from those on the left, rather from her critics on the right. Is it being presumptuous to expect an honest explanation for their rejection of Sarah Palin, while at the same time embracing a man like Barrack Obama?

Foreign policy, (the bedrock of the pseudo intellectual neocon) is this the explanation we are to believe that Sarah Palin has been demonized? Is this the truth we are looking for? I think not. While Sarah Palin is admittedly inexperienced in foreign policy, the idea that Barack Obama is any more experienced is absurd.

On the economy and the size of the government there isn’t a hill of beans difference between Republicans and Democrats anymore. Social Security, Medicare and dozens of other government handouts have been voted into existence by both parties. As the National Debt approaches eleven trillion dollars the idea that any party is the home of the fiscal conservative is laughable. I submit it isn’t for fiscal reasons that Sarah Palin has been placed on the ash heap.

What than?

It’s ironic but I believe the answer for the rejection of Sarah Palin can be found in a quote that has been widely criticized by the right. The quote was made by Barack Obama in April at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, he said, “they cling to their guns and religion”. And there it is. The past few months as the campaign unfolded, the pseudo conservatives have listened for Mr. Obama to speak thoughtfully about the life issues, including abortion. But, as they listened to Obama talk the talk, they watched Sarah Palin walk the walk.

The pseudo conservative screams, how dare her!! Conservatism is about an intellectual exercise in foreign policy, and an adherence to sound fiscal principles. While life issues (guns) and abortion (religion) are at home in the conservative camp they don’t lend themselves to intellectual pursuit, therefore they are above my pay grade.

Win or lose tomorrow, Sarah Palin represents what remains of the conservative movement. What remains is all that is needed. A foundation to build upon; a foundation formed with the issues that has made this country the greatest on earth. We will cling to our guns and religion and we will build a new. Not with bitterness, but with an understanding, that not every one that says, “I’m a conservative”, is.

No matter the outcome of next week’s election, the era of reaching across the aisle and the search for bi-partisanship will have come to end.

Thank God.

Shelby Foote, the noted Civil War historian, has surmised that the Civil War could have been avoided if only the politicians of the time could have reached a bi-partisan agreement on slavery. “Americans had lost their ability to compromise”, If only they would have reached across the aisle.

What compromise should there have been about slavery?

Tell me, where was the compromise, when the British were presented with the Declaration of Independence in 1776?

Did we reach across the aisle to defeat Hitler in World War II?

Faced with insurmountable obstacles, We the People, have created a nation that is the envy of the world, because we refused to compromise. We hold these truths to be self-evident…Not a whole lot of compromise there.

I’ve always been in awe of the small group of men that signed their name to that great document, The Declaration of Independence. Have you ever considered the courage that it must of have taken? The British, prepared to invade this want to be country with the strongest Navy and Army in world history. They stood on the principle, that all men are created equal, and defied the King of England.

This election has been called the most important in a generation and, it may well be.

Will it be for the good or the ill of this great country?

Who will compromise?

If the Democrats win; will they reach across the aisle, will they compromise?

If McCain wins; who would he compromise with, Pelosi, Reid?

How history will judge this election, depends on which side refused to compromise.

As the presidential campaign winds down, we are seeing the finger pointing and the arm chair quarterbacking begin. We’re all critics; it’s pretty much the American way, or maybe its just human nature. If McCain had only said this, or if Palin had not been chosen. What if Romney, Huckabee? What if… If only…

I’m not part of the group that is ready to admit defeat. Super Bowl 42 according to the experts was going to be won by the previously undefeated New England Patriots; the New York Giants didn’t have a chance.

David Frum is one of those that have already begun to criticize the McCain campaign. In his article titled “Sorry Senator. Let’s Salvage What We Can.” he lays out a plan for sure defeat for the McCain/Palin team.

I will concede, some of what Frum writes in his article has some merit and needs to be examined further, but yanking your starting quarter back in the last minute of the game is absurd.

David Brooks Just Doesn't Get It

David Brooks still doesn’t get it.

With his supposed expertise on American culture, his resent article in the New York Times is just another example of a self proclaimed intellectual, whose feet are firmly planted in New York, his heart in the Democrat Party, and his mind on some mountain top in Tibet.

Citing historical evidence for his insightful view of modern day conservatism, (apart from one small reference to what I’m sure Brooks would consider the antiquated notion of sin) he completely ignores the fact that more than 80% of American’s believe in God.

While it is true that belief doesn’t always translate into action, it is true that the conservative base of the Republican Party, not only believes in God, they believe that He takes an active roll in their lives. To try to explain conservatism with little more than a hint at the roll faith plays reveals the true division that exists between the intellectual elite and the rest of conservative America.

How or why the label conservative columnist came to be applied to David Brooks is beyond me. To find anything worthy in the conservative views of David Brook’s makes about as much sense as to find merit in Jeremiah Wright’s view on patriotism.

True conservatism has at its heart the Declaration of Independence.

We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit if Happiness.

Life, Mr. Brooks, and the sanctity of said life is the motivating force behind modern conservatives. Try as you might, you and your elite group, can not change that fact.

It may be possible that one day the Republican Party will no longer be the home of conservatives, but it will never be possible for conservatives to be at home where, a newborn baby can be left to die in order to capture some middle ground.

Sarah Palin and her supporters understand this. I’m not sure if John McCain does, but I am sure that David Brooks and his group do not.

What do Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann and President Bush have in common?

They are all despised by the left.

Why?

For eight years President Bush has withstood constant attacks by the left. Their hatred is usually expressed two ways; he is stupid and a liar. Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann have the same vitriol leveled at them.

So, am I to conclude that the left hates these three because they are considered stupid? That doesn’t seem right when you consider how the left embraces such intellectual giants like; Joe Biden, Cindy Sheehan, and Matt Damon.

Maybe the left is so morally sensitive; they just can’t stand liars.

Bill Clinton, John Kerry, and Barack Obama all known liars and yet the left loves them.

Hmmmm?

I think I have the answer.

Colin Powell - All About Race

So, General Colin Powell has endorsed Barrack. What a surprise.

Wouldn’t it be great if we had a modern day General with the courage to stand up for what is right and politics be dammed?

Can you imagine what General George Patton would have to say to Colin Powell?

If Powell wanted to join the other 95% of his fellow African Americans and vote for Obama, I wish he would have just done so and saved himself and the country the embarrassment. He could have gone behind the curtain and voted in secret, no one would have been the wiser. Instead, he choose to shame himself by appearing on Meet the Press and lying to the American public as to why Barack would be better for this country.

I know, lie is a very strong word, but I don’t see how else you can describe his so-called reasons for backing Obama. Rush Limbaugh has said, “That it was all about race.” I tend to agree, if Obama wasn’t black Powell would never have endorsed him.

Barack Obama has done for Colin Powell what the general could never quite do for himself. For years Colin Powell has been the poster boy for the term RINO. Now with the advent of “The One” he no longer needs to pretend. What relief he must feel to no longer be considered as “General Uncle Tom.”

I will admit that I don’t understand how a man with the education, and the experience that Colin Powell has, could possibly ignore a lifetime of military service to endorse a man like Barack Obama.

For God sakes General you held the highest military rank in our country. Yet on Meet the Press you decried Mc Cain’s use of Obama’s past associations with a known terrorist – a terrorist that tried to blow up the Pentagon – as inappropriate.

I know first hand the anal exam you have to go through to get a security clearance for the U.S. military. I know for a fact that there is no way I would have been granted a security clearance if I had worked for or with a man who was known to be a terrorist.

So we are to believe that the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the former National Security Advisor, finds it inappropriate to point out that the man that could be given command over the strongest military in the world should be questioned about his association with a terrorist?

General Colin Powell you have ignored a life time of military experience to endorse a man that couldn’t get even a low level security clearance. If it isn’t about race, what is it?

Maybe you should take the advice of another great general, just fade away.

Ugly American's

The often used Hollywood theme; poor girl falls in love with a boy from a wealthy family, the boy’s snobbish family can’t tolerate such a union, and so the plot unfolds. There have probably been hundreds of movies produced which have told this story. Not to mention the countless books, plays and songs.

The characters are sometimes reversed; boy falls for rich girl as in the 2004 movie “The Notebook.” My favorite however, is the 1938 Frank Capra movie, “You Can’t Take It With You.”

Most of these movies have happy endings, with the snobbish elite realizing the error of their ways and accepting the new member into the family. But when we are dealing with Hollywood we know that true life is not always so kind, people are not easily changed.

The term “Ugly American” is used to describe the arrogant and repulsive behavior of an American citizen has they travel abroad. “Ugly American” has taken on a whole new meaning in the past 7 weeks. You need not travel outside of your home town to see signs of this repulsive creature. Turn on the TV, the radio, pick up a newspaper, a magazine, or spend more than a minute on the internet you’ll find one – “Ugly American”.

When Sarah Palin was first introduced to the American public - just 7 weeks ago - it didn’t take more than a few minutes before this foul beast raised its ugly head. I remember the day clearly; the first attacks were against her looks, “She has funny hair”, “Funny Glasses”. Within 24 hours we heard about incest in her family, and the attacks have not let up.

It is true; Barrack Obama has managed to become the great unifier. You will not find a more unified group of “Ugly Americans” than exists in the Democratic Party. And, not unlike John McCain, he too, has managed to reach across the aisle, and has captured the heart of another beast.

You see, we conservatives have a few “Ugly Americans” in our midst. Not the evil and cruel type that reside on the left; no these are the Frank Capra type, the arrogant, the snobbish. You know the ones; they believe that they alone are the keepers of the truth. They look down their noses, as they profess to know what is right for America.

Sarah Palin did not seek this union. She like so many Hollywood characters fell in love. Her country just happens to be the object of her passion. Sarah Palin is a small town girl, from a working class family, who is a true challenge to the conservative elite; represented by the snobbish and arrogant Kathleen Parker, Peggy Noonan, George Will, and David Frum.

Sarah Palin is Frank Capra’s Mr. Smith, George Bailey and Alice Sycamore. And, because life is not as kind as Frank Capra would want it to be. I would rather endure four years of Barrack Obama than to see this remarkable woman destroyed by these “Ugly Americans”

The third debate is over, for conservatives it was a good first move. With less then three weeks to go before the election, the saying “better late than never” certainly applies.

It is true, just as Joe Biden said; “Barrack Obama is very clean and articulate.” I believe as a used car salesman, Barrack should probably win salesman of the year award. He’s good at making you believe, if you vote for him he will make all your dreams come true.

But, he’s nothing more than just another liberal con man.

So why; has it taken Joe the Plumber to show John McCain the way to win this election?

Sad to say I don’t think John McCain really understands that Joe the Plumber represents what conservatism is all about.

Too many years in Washington?

Maybe.

Whatever the reason, I would hope that Joe the Plumber will show Senator McCain that in order to beat this slick con man you only need to be CONSERVATIVE.

I'm A Journalist - Honest I Am

Have you ever been to an art museum, seen a pile of junk, and wondered; how could this be art?

The answer you get will depend on who you ask. Ask a person who claims to be an artist; you’ll get an answer that sounds something like this: “Of coarse this is art.” “If you were an artist you would be able to see that.” However; if you ask one of the countless unsophisticated boobs, the answer will probably sound like this: “It’s a pile of junk.” “How can you call this art?”

I've got to admit, I’m one of those unsophisticated boobs. When I saw the famous Picasso, in Chicago’s Daley Plaza, my first thought was; you've got to be kidding!

Somebody would actually pay money for this? Actually over $350,000 was paid for this pile of junk. Knowing Chicago, I’ll bet it was a lot more.

Art is art if an artist says it is, and don’t you dare question it; even if logic tells you otherwise.

I submit the same applies to the elites we have in the news media.

A journalist is a journalist, just ask a journalist.

Only a journalist can know the truth, just ask one.

And, of coarse they are all unbiased.

How dumb do you have to be; to believe that Sarah Palin speaks for the majority of America? Just listen to us we know the truth. McCain would be 30 points ahead if only he would have picked a Pro Abortion, Big Government Liberal like Joe Lieberman.

Thank God, most American’s can still recognize a pile of junk when they see one.

All We Have To Fear

By now you’ve all heard John McCain reassuring us that Barrack Obama is nothing to fear.

I’m sorry Senator McCain, I strongly disagree.

Below is an excerpt from an article that explains why I fear an Obama presidency.

On a hot summer day a little over two years ago, Sycloria Williams was in the throes of an induced-labor abortion of 22-week-old Shanice when the baby delivered alive.

A clinic worker, along with Williams, witnessed Gonzalez cut the cord and place the moving, breathing baby in a biohazard bag partially filled with chlorine bleach and zip it shut.

It was that worker who developed a conscience and allegedly called police to report the crime, after which Gonzalez tossed the baby in the bag on top of the mill roof so police couldn't find her.

Am I just supposed ignore the fact that Senator Obama fought against giving these babies legal protection?

Am I wrong to fear a man that professes to care about the little guy, yet shows no compassion for the most defenseless among us?

Senator McCain, I fear this man. So should you.

Troopergate - Abuse of Power - A Character Issue

If you need a perfect example of why government is so screwed up; take a look at the report on the Troopergate Investigation of Sarah Palin. 263 Pages "You got to be kidding." How much did this cost the people of Alaska? And to what end?

If Wooten had worked for any number of private businesses he would have and should have been fired. With a good possibility of criminal actions be brought against him. But as a union protected government employee his boss is to blame.

Sarah Palin abused her power as governor. Am I supposed to feel bad about that? Does that say something about her character?

Let me ask you, when someone uses their power to allow a new born baby to be placed in a supply closet to die; is that an abuse of power? What does that say about character?

The answer won't take 263 pages.

Economic Crisis or Character Crisis?

Is anybody really shocked that we are facing this current economic crisis? After just two generations, the ideals that made this country great, have been lost. Americans have been taught to look to government for the solution to all of life's problems.

Have you ever thought of what New Orleans would be like today if the Federal Government hadn’t rushed in with its untold riches after Hurricane Katrina?

Can you imagine your great grandfathers huddled like rats in the Superdome waiting for someone to come and rescue them?

Whining and complaining because they didn’t have food and water for their children?

Do you think your great grandfathers would have allowed thugs to roam the streets raping and looting?

Would your great grandfathers believe that the President of the United States was responsible for their family’s welfare?

Lastly

Do you believe that your great grandfathers would have thought it a good idea to build a city on land below sea level?

The answer to the above questions is YES. Yes if you have been taught for over 50 years that you are not responsible for your own actions. When you were warned that a hurricane is coming, you put yourself and your family at risk by ignoring the warning. And as a result of your actions; you don’t have food, transportation, medical care or a roof over your head? Not to worry, you’re not responsible. Uncle Sam will take care of you. And when Uncle Sam isn’t there fast enough with your freebies, you will be able to point out how just how rotten America really is.

The country is facing an economic crisis right now. How will we respond? As our great grandfathers would have? Or will it be as we’ve been taught?

Sad to say, “I think I know the answer.”

As I became more aware of what was happening to my country and why, I added newspapers to the list The New York Times, The Los Angles Times, Washington Post, just to mention a few. The Associated Press, MSNBC, and the BBC have now been added. This isn’t a complete list but, it represents the elite of the elite.

Before I go on though, I think it’s important to note that using the word "elite" when describing the news media is a misnomer. Oh, I’m sure they would subscribe to the notion that they are elite.

And this is the point: They do believe that they are "elite".

For the sake of argument, at this time, I too, will subscribe to that believe. The reporters, the columnists and the countless minions that make up the “media elite” are; far superior in their knowledge and intellect when compared to the rest of us yokels. Without this ruling class we would never know the truth.

The evidence of their superior intellect is all around us. Look at the way they have kept us informed of the most perilous threat facing our country in the past 70 years; Sarah Palin.

How else would we have known that Sarah Palin is not the most qualified?

Or that John McCain blew it by selecting her.

Palin is obviously not prepared to assume the presidency when John McCain dies.

She has proven that she is not up to doing the job of President.

Sarah Palin can’t even string a sentence together.

Did you know that she said that she can see Russsia from her window?

Palin fatally undermines McCain.

Palin is not ready.

Sarah Palin should lie to the public and bow out of the race.

Can you believe it? She doesn’t even read our columns.

Golly, shucks! I never would have known all this if it hadn’t been for this venerable group of truth givers.

Gee Whiz!! I really thought John McCain made a good pick, I kind of liked her. Darn, I really am dumb.

I hate the “elite liberal media.”

Hey! Wait a minute! These comments weren’t made by the “elite liberal media.”

They are all made by the “ELITE CONSERVATIVE MEDIA.”

This sanctimonious group that has set it self up as the arbiters of truth, has lost all credibility, as far as I’m concerned.

They are no better than Charlie Gibson. Sitting there with is holier than thou attitude, looking down his nose at Sarah Palin. Redeem yourselves O Great Ones; spend some time with the great unwashed of this country.

And just maybe you will understand the feelings that we have for this remarkable woman: Sarah Palin.

I wrote the above article the day after the Vice Presidential debate. I watched the “elite media’’ immediately after the debate.

You know the ones that follow politics for a living and have all knowledge. I have three questions for you.

1. Why has it taken almost 24 hours for you to start questioning the numerous lies that were spewed by Joe Biden?

2. You mean that you don’t have all that information in your head O Great Ones?

3. Could it be you are not qualified?

When is the truth wrong?

The truth is not the truth, when a conservative columnist, is not a conservative columnist, likes but dislikes Sarah Palin.

Or so goes the logic of the award winning syndicated columnist Kathleen Parker.

This morning Mike Gallagher interviewed Kathleen Parker on his radio show. The interview covered a recent column in which Kathleen Parker said that Sarah Palin should bow out as a VP candidate. The evidence that Ms. Parker gave for her conclusion is primarily based on Sarah Palin’s interview with Katie Couric.

This morning’s interview began with Ms. Parker asserting, that everybody agrees with her; Sarah Palin should bow out. According to Ms Parker, the supporters of Sarah Palin are just being dishonest when they don’t voice the same opinion.

-Ms. Parker admits that she just has a bad habit of telling the truth. Just look the truth is very clear; Sarah Palin can’t even answer Couric’s question about what newspapers she reads.

-Continuing with her profound well thought out conclusions about Sarah Palin, Ms. Parker assures us that she doesn’t hate Sarah, actually she loves her. And if only Sarah had spent four years running for office, instead of running an office, she would qualified for vice president.

-Then Ms Parker drops this bomb; the truth might actually be wrong. Confused?

-Look Mike, Sarah Palin isn’t able to string a sentence together, “I’ve watched all the interviews” says, Ms. Parker, if only Sarah hadn’t said, “I can see Russia from my window.” “Then she would be ready.”

-Then this, of course it’s unavoidable; John McCain is going to die as soon as he gets in office.

-Ms. Parker admits that she feels real bad for Sarah and that if John McCain had only picked Mitt Romney everything would be fine. Because, Romney understands this economic crisis, and the second John McCain dies Mitt will be there to step in.

-She concludes the interview by claiming that she had a bad week because she had to watch Sarah Palin.

According to the biography of Ms Parker, she has received numerous journalistic awards and has spent 20 years as a journalist, contributing to numerous magazines and newspapers. With all this experience, and almost a week to prepare for this “hard hitting interview” I would have expected more from Ms. Parker.

She claims to be the arbiter of truth, then claims that the truth is wrong.

How is it that with 20 years experience, Ms Parker doesn’t understand why Sarah didn’t answer Couric’s question about her reading habits? Can you imagine what the left would have said if Sarah had admitted to reading, say, the Bible or Celebrate Life Magazine? Katie Couric knew what would happen and so did Sarah. The experienced Ms. Parker was the only one that couldn’t quite figure that out.

Obama has stated that the experience gained from running for office is far superior to actually holding an office. Ms Parker agrees.

Outside of left wing blogs and SNL, Sarah Palin has never claimed to be able to see Russia from her window. At least we know where Ms. Parker gets her information.

Sarah Palin would be only a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Where have you heard that before? More insight to Ms. Parker’s reading habits.

Ms. Parker opines, if only it had been Mitt Romney then we would have some one to take care of this current financial crisis. Problem is there was no crisis when Sarah was picked. Of coarse Ms. Parker probably has the bad habit of foreseeing the future too.

During the interview and immediately following Mike Gallagher had suggested that there was something else behind Ms. Parker’s conclusions. He never developed his thoughts however.

Let me suggest these:

Ms. Parker’s 20 years of experience is meaningless; she is incapable of stringing together two logical thoughts.

Since Ms Parker has a bad habit of telling the truth but yet surrounds herself with people that can’t; I think it’s fair to ask; is she really telling us the truth?

It’s was obvious to me that in order to support her argument she only regurgitated left wing talking points.

She did admit that she was not a conservative.

She claims to love Sarah and feels bad for her. With friends like that ….

Finally, I have read many past columns of Ms. Parkers’, and have not found any that support her claims that she was a cheer leader for Sarah. Admittedly she might have written something that I’m not aware of, I would be happy to see it.

My conclusion is this; Ms Parker as become nothing more than a parody of conservative values. She doesn’t have a clue what Sarah Palin represents to the people. People who are not ashamed to call themselves conservative. My guess is that she has spent way too long in the company of other elite columnists who believe that only they know the truth. I’m sure that a spot on the Huffington Post is already being set aside for her. After all wasn’t Arianna considered a conservative at one time?

Death By A Thousand Cuts

I am really getting tired of the so called defenders of conservatism not doing their job. Is it guilt? Maybe they don’t feel that it is their job; or maybe they are not really conservative. Whatever the reason, I think it’s time somebody else step up to the plate.

Since 1990 when the first President Bush refused to stand up to left. Through all the disappointments of the Republican controlled Congress to the total ineptitude of the present Bush Administration to deal with the constant attacks on his character, his patriotism, his intellect and on and on and on.

The left never rests, it has no rules, and it doesn’t ever compromise. The left is strong, it won’t give up. The battle has been joined and conservatism is experiencing a death by a thousand cuts.

This past week is perfect example of how conservatism will be defeated. Whether you agree or disagree with the financial bailout I think it’s pretty well documented why we have this crisis. There is ample evidence both in print and video to prove that the responsibility for this crisis can and should be laid at the feet of the Democrat Party. However this is what we get form our leaders:

“There’s enough blame to go around”

“Fix the problem not the blame”

“I doesn’t matter who got us in to this mess, we have to fix it”

“Let’s be bipartisan”

This list can go on ad nauseam.

If there was even a 10 second video clip of a Republican defending Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac; what do you think the left would do with it? You know good and well. He would have been forced to resign, his life would be ruined. And, we would already have a $700 billion dollar bail out bill; with $100 billion of it going to left wing causes.

I salute the Republicans that stood up to the evil, yes the evil, which is represented by the likes of Nancy Polosi. They deserve our respect and support.

While the left is strong it’s not invincible, it can be defeated. Truth and honor are the weapons we will use this end, our leaders must be held to these standards. And we must demand that there be no compromise.

I don’t want to get along with the left I have nothing in common with them.

THE DEMOCRATS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS PROBLEM!!!!
